Halloweekend NYC 2006
Written by Whitesnake
Friday night started a Gold Sprint series on the very block I live on, a series I will never see a single race of, as I always work weekends. I heard some ringer CAT-1 road racer won, but Ken Stanek took a close second. I'm sure this series will only get more exciting, competitive, and drunk as the weeks wear on, come out Friday nights to LuLu's at 113 Franklin St, at the corner of Greenpoint Ave, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Black Label Bike Kill

Although the Bike Kill was scheduled to start at 12, I couldn't shake my hangover off until 1. Then I needed to wait for the rain to stop.

I made it to the Home Depot in Bed-Stuy around 2, and after saying hello to some friends I tried to get close enough to the action to photograph the Derby. As soon as I got into range, I had retreat and find cover from a giant, infected pink cock cannon that shot a milky spew of plaster of paris at high velocity across competitors and spectators alike. I have no photos of this because I like my camera.

Chopper events attract a large number of people wearing denim vests. The C.H.U.N.K.IV.IV.IV. kids know how to stick out in the crowd though.Image

The Bike Kill was host to a few events I had never seen, my favorites being Blind Skull and The Two Wheel Orgy. Blind Skull involved a one block head to head sprint, donning a giant styrofoam skull that (was supposed to) cover your eyes, at which point you turned around and raced back to the start. I think everyone cheated. The giant cock was now getting loaded with wine. I still tried to avoid it.

The Two Wheel Orgy consisted of packing as many people as possible on a single bike. Some designs worked better than others, and I was really impressed when the girl holding this tall bike up jumped on the guy's shoulders who then briefly stepped onto the rear pegs.Image
